Walk up to San Luigi

We can just about see San Luigi from the house.  It is high in the hills right opposite us, and is an old summer settlement for shepherds.  We  hoped there would be crocuses there, as there have been before ...

We drove across the valley, up the canyon to the village of Fabbriche di Vallico (coffee!), then drove up to Vallico di Sopra to start our walk.  It was very cold!

Notoriously hard to photograph, there were plenty snowdrops on the road verges in the valley floor
Vallico di Sopra seen from the road up

On the old mule path.  It looks more wintry than it felt at the time!

Looking back to the road up to Vallico Sopra

And we did find crocuses - here growing with hellebores

Hard to show in photos, the meadows sported crocuses in their thousands
