Crema

Crema is about 50 minutes north of Cremona by train.  We had a fine day of weather for a gentle stroll around the small town.

Piazza del Duomo, Crema

The Duomo

The campanile
Many of the courtyards had beautiful ornate iron gates like these

Historically, the settlement which was to become Crema was in the centre of a swampland near the river Po.  The town museum had an impressive collection of very large, pre-Roman dug-out boats discovered and preserved in recent times

The grand finale - the house where Pietro grew up, in the years soon after the war.  We were a bit disappointed to find there was no blue plaque ...

  1. oh Barbara, I feel so honoured, and so proud! You made it to Crema, and you found the house in Via Palestro where I grew up! And you made fantastic pictures of the Duomo, the Palazzo Comunale, the dug-out canoes! Thank you. I'm telling our children they must look up this blog.
