Cremona

Our day in Cremona started with a visit to the street market, then a cycle run for a mile or so down to the great River Po, which is still navigable to some extent at Cremona.

The facade of the Duomo, and the magnificent campanile, which is the tallest in Italy, third tallest in the world - and built 700 years ago ...

Piazza del Duomo with civic buildings

Many and varied foods available at the market

After buying a new cap, Bill eyes up the fur coats ...
Time for a coffee in a central bar -

Old Man River - the Po in all its glory

Sperlari - Shop front of a nationally famous maker of torrone (nougat)

Evening sun lights up the cathedral facade.  Photo taken after ascending the tower (502 steps!)

In Taverna la Botte that evening - lamb chops grilled on the open fire, then kept hot at the table on their own mini-barbecue.  Delicious!
