Ever since we first went to he Carnevale in Viareggio in 2014, it has been an essential item on our winter calendar. The parade is held on five occasions, and being February, much scrutiny of the weather forecast is needed. However, yesterday was fine if a bit overcast, and so we headed off...
This year, more than any before, the overall message of the floats was of impending doom, with Messrs Trump, Kim Jong Un and Putin featuring often.
Despite the serious message, the carnival spirit was alive and well among the hundreds of participants and onlookers.
As usual, the floats (carri) were of incredible quality - artistic and technical - and the choreography amazing.
