Florence and Fiesole

On Tuesday, we headed to Florence to revisit the Uffizi gallery.  We haven't been to Florence this winter yet, and not visited the Uffizi for a couple of years.

We stayed overnight in the small town of Fiesole, on a hill high above Florence.

First stop is always the Duomo and the magnificent bell-tower
designed by Giotto

We had a pavement lunch looking up to the Bargello - former barracks and prison, now a museum

Ponte Vecchio seen through a window in the Uffizi

Treasures of the Uffizi - Domenico Ghirlandaio's Adoration of the Magi

Treasures of the Uffizi - Leonardo da Vinci's Annunciation (behind glass!)

Stunning close-up view of the Palazzo Vecchio, seen from the Uffizi

After our meal in Fiesole we made the steep climb up to the viewpoint to enjoy the spectacular panorama over Florence
