Monte Sumbra conquered ...

A couple of weeks ago we climbed up Monte Sumbra, but didn't quite make it to the top as we were a bit of time.  Yesterday, we had another very good day of weather in prospect, so determined to finish the job.  Being the feast day of Ognissanti (All Saints), we had plenty of company on the climb  - always reassuring for us amateurs...

Up through the faggeta - beechwood
The terrain gets wilder ...

... up across the summit meadow

At the summit, a wonderful vista opens out to the south

... and to the north - Monte Tamboura and others

Of course, I was chuffed to be able to snap this Alpine Chough!

On the way down, here, we came upon these traces of a wild boar who had been snorkelling through the earth and leaf mould on the forest floor

Back at the car, this old shepherd's hut caught our eye

  1. HURRAH! YOU DID IT! (and came back alive). Congratulations. Now, when you sit on the terrace and look at that round Sumbra mountain top, you can let your imagination run wild, and say: "I was there"

  2. Thanks Pietro - yes, we were very glad we managed it - and in the nick of time too - next day the tops were covered in snow!
